Our History

In 1997, Philip Verges had the vision of building his own business. He started a system integration and technology services firm, then VergeTech, with close business associates and his family. They all left careers with EDS, Texas Instruments, Ernst & Young and American Airlines to join the start-up almost ten years ago. VergeTech started with the mission to help customers create new lines of revenue through technology.

In 2002, IPVoice Communications acquired all the assets of VergeTech, Inc. and Philip Verges became CEO of IPVoice. In 2004, the company changed its name to NewMarket Technology to better reflect the Company’s renewed business plan and expansion beyond providing only IP Telephony.

Since 2002, the Company has expanded its model to include three primary functions: systems integration, emerging technology incubation and investment. NewMarket provides traditional systems integration services, coupled with the introduction of cutting-edge technology products to grow their customers’ competitive edge.

NewMarket Technology focuses its emerging technologies in the Homeland Security, Healthcare and Telecommunication industries and has grown its business to reach some of the fastest growing economies worldwide, namely China, South East Asia and Latin America.

NewMarket Technology has grown significantly since 2002 through both organic growth and through the acquisition of system integrators and emerging technology companies worldwide. NewMarket took their first step into international business in 2003, when the Company acquired Infotel in Singapore. In 2004, the Company expanded into Latin America with the acquisition of a systems integrator in Venezuela. In 2005, NewMarket’s international presence grew dramatically with further growth into Brazil and Chile and the start of NewMarket China’s operations in Shanghai.

In 2004, NewMarket and its global business model was first recognized by Deloitte as one of the top 50 fastest growing technology companies in the state of Texas and top 500 in North America.

In 2006, NewMarket received the honor from Deloitte of being the #1 fastest growing technology company in Texas, the #3 fastest growing technology company in the United States and #5 fastest growing technology company overall in North America.
